"Hey - Thanks for consider our trip. Here's how Vicky and I see Statia: Sometimes you just want to get off the beaten path. I mean - paths can be good. They can be comfortable..They are like a broken-in pair of jeans and your favorite t-shirt. You know what to expect and they don't let you down. They can be like visiting old friends.
But sometimes you want to make new friends. You want to get off the beaten path.. You want to see the Caribbean like it was before cruise ships, before there were direct flights to the islands, before some guy named Buffet decided there should be another one of his bars on the landscape. How much money does one person need anyway? Okay enough of the rant.
So its off to St Eustatia, or Statia, as it's known more informally. Down there near St. Maartin and St. Kitts. Off the beaten path, but not to far off. We found a very nice hotel with a dive operation and a bar. Within walking distance of restaurants. All this at a very nice price, especially since this is high season. Since this is off the beaten path it will take an extra plane ride to get there. E-mail me or talk to the folks at Gypsy about how to set up your flight itinerary.
