Stress/Rescue Course
We recommend this course for ALL divers
Tuition: $160

September 26 and 28 at Gypsy, October 2 at Fantasy Lake

Early recognition and reduction of stress in ourselves and in our dive buddies can greatly reduce the chances of a diving accident. The Stress/Rescue program covers not only rescue work, but also techniques for detecting and positively dealing with stress in self and others.
Rescue emphasis is on learning what techniques will work for you, based on your body size, conditioning level, and the relative size of the accident victim.

Current CPR/First Aid Certification is a pre-requisite for this course. These classes are also available several times a month through the Triangle Area Red Cross.

Time commitment: Approximately two to three hours at home to read the text and answer the questions prior to the first classroom session; one classroom session, one classroom/pool combined session, and two days of open water training.

Required Training Materials: The SSI Stress/Rescue Home Study Kit, $45.95

Required equipment: Personal snorkeling gear and scuba gear with functioning BCD auto-inflator and alternate air source, PSI/depth gauges or computer, two cylinders, exposure suit, compass, slate, personal surface marker (scuba tuba), whistle, and dive knife or shears.

Medical Waiver: If it's been more than a year since you were in the water, and/or it's your first time taking a course from Gypsy Divers, a Medical History Form is required. If you have any "Yes" answers, it may be necessary for you to get a Physicians Approval before signing up. Here's the link to the Medical History Form and Physicians Guidelines. Please call us if you have any questions.
