The lure of finding treasure crosses the mind of every diver at least
once. The ability to recover lost or sunken objects can be an exciting
new challenge to a recreational diver. This specialty will help you learn
effective underwater search techniques and provide the entry level training
to recover submerged objects such as: boat motors, lost equipment, watches,
and other small to medium size items. You will learn how to safely use
lift bags to recover objects. You will also learn how to participate on
a recovery team.
Pre-Requisites: OW diver or equivalent
with dives within the past year. 25+ dive experience recommended. Night/Limited
Visibility, Navigation, and Advanced Buoyancy Specialties or documented
equivalent experience.
Time Commitment: Approximately
two hours at home to complete the home study component, and one day at
the Quarry for several search and rescue dives under instructional supervision.

Required Equipment: Personal snorkeling
gear and scuba equipment with functioning BCD auto-inflator and alternate
air source, PSI/depth gauges or computer, two dive cylinders, appropriate
exposure suit, compass, slate. You must purchase your own 50 lb
lift bag, Pelican float reel, and goodie/game bag with attachment hooks.
It is strongly recommended to have Airtech add an additional low pressure
inflator hose with an air blow gun tip to your first stage.
