Underwater navigation is a great specialty to start right after your entry-level training. The home study materials will introduce you to more advanced compass techniques than are covered in your initial dive training. And, during thecourse of a two-dive format, you will have a chance to practice, under the supervision of an instructor, compass map following and compass map making. Expect a very enjoyable time.

Time Commitment: Approximately 2 hours at home to watch the video, read text and answer study guide questions, and then one day to complete two dives under supervision.

Training Materials: SSI Underwater Navigation Text. $14.95

Required Equipment: Personal snorkeling gear and scuba equipment with functioning BCD auto-inflator and alternate air source, PSI/depth gauges or computer, two dive cylinders, appropriate exposure suit, compass and slate.

Medical Waiver: If it's been more than a year since you were in the water, and/or it's your first time taking a course from Gypsy Divers, a Medical History Form is required. If you have any "Yes" answers, it may be necessary for you to get a Physicians Approval before signing up.. Here's the link to the Medical History Form and Physicians Guidelines.
